Brittle Bodies is a series of sculptures begun in 2020. In these works I use different clays, often porcelain, parian, bone china and glaze. By using these clays which we encounter everyday, and often associate with status, beauty and advanced technological industries, it is possible to sabotage these social aspirations. Creating material conversations which are in conflict, so cracks, distortions and collapse occur. This allows me to enact associations of bodily failure (myself) and convey feelings of fragility and instability.
